Happy Veganuary!

It’s a New Year – how are your resolutions holding up? It’s never too late to make a change in your life, so why not try something new? If you haven’t gone vegan already, take the Veganuary pledge and go vegan for the month of January.

In 2013, husband and wife Matthew Glover and Jane Land founded Veganuary, inviting people to adopt the vegan lifestyle for the month of January. The pledge allows people to try vegan food and learn about how a vegan lifestyle can greatly impact various aspects of our lives. Going vegan is like taking vegetarianism a step further. Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or poultry, but vegans avoid all animal foods (meat, dairy, eggs), animal derived products (leather, wool), and products tested on animals. According to the Vegan Society, “Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.”

By going vegan for the month of January, you will be practicing healthier eating habits while reducing your carbon footprint and saving animals from inhumane treatment. You will be trying something new and learning about how your dietary habits can affect your health. The pledge encompasses giving up meat and dairy and only buying animal cruelty-free products and clothing.

It may be hard to get started, but once you take the pledge at, they will supply you with various resources, including tips, shopping lists, recipes, and more. You will also have a support system at your fingertips, with others who have taken the pledge offering encouragement and advice.

This pledge could potentially lead to a permanent lifestyle change. Many have reported that going vegan has helped improve other health issues, thus leading to a permanent vegan lifestyle. Making the pledge is a commendable act in itself, whether you decide to continue the vegan lifestyle or not.
